CHOOSING THE RIGHT COLOR FOR YOUR LOGO

When starting a business, one of the first thoughts that may come to mind is

how you will brand yourself. This includes brainstorming names, fonts and colors.

Choosing the right color for your logo can feel like a huge decision. It’s important to understand how the color of your logo will convey the message you want to send to your audience. This can be accomplished

by using Color Theory.

Color Theory is the understanding of how different colors interact with each other and how humans perceive different colors.

Let me give you an example- When you walk into a Panera Bread, you’re surrounded by different shades of green, tan, and natural wood. You might even notice a fireplace and relaxing music playing while you sit on a cushioned chair with your warm cup of soup. It’s not a coincidence that you want to stay a while! Now, let’s say you walk into a Burger King. You most likely are surrounded by bright reds, yellows and blue that bring a fast-paced energy to the room. The music is energizing and the seats aren’t cushioned, making you leave a little more quickly than what you would at Panera Bread. Both of these restaurants are examples of how color theory and interior design can be used to change how humans interact with the space around them. Panera Bread may want you to stay a while and relax, while Burger King may want to emphasize the speed of their service.

Choosing the best colors for your brand can completely change how your audience perceives your brand. Now that we understand the meaning and importance of color theory, it’s time for some inspiration!

Youth Logos

When it comes to choosing colors for a youth logo, there are so many fun options. Focus more on the brightness and vibrancy of the logo as opposed to the perfect color. As you can see in these examples, a variety of colors are being used, yet they all have one thing in common - they are bold and vibrant!

Organization and Corporate Logos

If your goal is to convey professionalism and timelessness, consider limiting your logo to one or two colors. Black can be a great option for a sleek and professional look, but don't be afraid to throw in an additional color to accompany it.

Athletic Logos

Bold colors are ideal for athletic logos! They also provide a great opportunity to use complimentary colors together to create an amazing contrast. Consider using a bright color such as orange or blue and accompanying it with a sleek font.
